Three bookmakers, each the best at one thing. All hold real licences, all have a payout track record, and between them they cover most countries British expats actually live in.

How we rank
Three tests, in order. Licence first: the operator must be licensed and regulated somewhere with a functioning complaints process, and we drop anyone with a record of stiffing players. Payout record second: we read player forums and dispute databases, not press releases. Value third: welcome offer, odds margins on football, and how quickly winnings actually arrive.
We are paid a commission by some bookmakers when you join through our links. That never changes the order of this list: the ranking above is the same one we’d give a mate at the pub, and any book that fails the licence or payout test doesn’t appear at any price.
Frequently asked
Why isn’t my old UK bookie listed?
Most UK high-street brands only serve Great Britain, so they close or restrict accounts registered to a foreign address. The full story is in our guide to using UK betting accounts abroad.
Is it legal for me to bet where I live?
That depends entirely on your country of residence, and it’s your responsibility to check before you deposit. Some countries have licensed local markets, some tolerate offshore sites, a few ban gambling outright.
Can I bet in pounds?
Often yes at bet365 depending on where you registered. Elsewhere expect euros, dollars or crypto. Factor in your bank’s currency conversion fee, or use a multi-currency account.
Bet with your head. Offers are only good value if you’d have bet anyway. Set a deposit limit on day one, and if it stops being fun, talk to Gambling Therapy, free and confidential, worldwide.
